The Ranch

North Creek Ranch is a patch of private land surounded by public land nestled in the foot hills of the magnificent Tushar Mountains, named for the Paiute word for white, T'shar.

The first known residents to leave their mark on the area were the Fremont peoples. The largest Fremont settlement ever discovered was found during the construction of I-70 in Clear Creek Canyon. Artifacts form the village, as well as petroglyphs are visible in the Fremont Indian State Park adjacent to the north end of the Tushar Mountains.

Later residents were drawn to the district first by the abundant beaver that flurished in the streams and lakes of the Tushars. Gold and silver replaced beaver as rich deposits of these metals gave rise to boomtowns such as Marysvale, Bullion, and Kimberly. Early Mormon settelers established the town of Beaver in 1856 building homesteads and ranches.

North Creek Ranch is one of the last of the old ranches left on the Beaver Bench, cattle summer on the ranch today maintaining a tradition that the Jolley family now hopes to share with the each and every land owner at North Creek Ranch.
